Former workplaces, positions: Before joining the Association “Active Youth”, I had an internship in process management as a process manager (assistant), before taking a different career path, I worked as a technical employee (junior engineer) at SWECO Lietuva, and before that I worked as a draftsman at INHUS Engineering.
Areas of expertise and career experiences: Although I have a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (Structural Engineering) and have worked in this career field for a while (up to 1 year), I would call project management my area of expertise, which I would say started much earlier than when I actually started to work in it. Project management is for people who are very good planners of their time and work, who like dynamic work and continuous learning, and who know how to work both individually and in teams. For me, these experiences came from various extracurricular and after-school activities, especially youth organisations. And when I came to Active Youth and started working on Erasmus+ long-term projects through non-formal education, I applied them and learnt even more – from project finance and activity planning to creative tasks and activity implementation – both locally and internationally, from learning from international colleagues to delivering training to colleagues or youth organisations. All with the aim of making a positive difference for a better tomorrow for all of us, by learning and creating on important topics through non-formal education.
Strong personal qualities: Planning and organisation, curiosity, flexibility, initiative, responsibility, communication skills.
My motivation/personal goal for participating in the mentoring program: I believe that I myself have gone through a colourful palette of experiences from school to now, to get to where I am, where I can inspire others. I have always been active and curious, and I want to contribute to the growth of students like myself, to share my experiences, to support them on their growth path, to help them find and plan their own path – I believe that I would be strong enough to do that.
By the way, I have completed the Minded VMU Mentor Academy, where we learnt the subtleties of mentoring, so I want to apply them – to grow myself by growing others. I work with young people myself and in the future I want to work more and more closely with youth development, self-discovery, mentoring, education, so I believe that this is a great medium to learn together with the student being mentored.
Hobbies and other information about me: Absolutely love traveling (which my nature allows me to do a lot!) and experiencing new countries and their cultures wholeheartedly – so far, I’m most in love with Asia! I am an active traveler. I also love long walks in nature and beyond, being fully here and now. Sometimes I do meditation (so mindful walking is a form of it, called walking meditation). And I’ve long been a dancing enthusiast (I did ballroom dancing for 11 years) – my new favourite is bachata!
