Previous workplaces and positions: 14 years of writing backend code – mostly in PHP, but also some Python, .NET, and Golang here and there.
Areas of expertise and career experiences: Some topics that tech students could find interesting:
Refactoring and rewriting monolith code; writing event-driven microservices and APIs; usage of AI tools and agents; recent changes on software engineering job markets.
Strong personal qualities: I did some mentoring before and can actually teach. That’s not that common in the engineering world.
Expectations for students: To really benefit from our interactions, the student should already have some software development experience. Having an internship (now or in the past) would be the best, but having some own hobby or research projects is also fine.
My motivation/personal goal for participating in the mentorship program: Previous mentorship was quite an enlightening experience. I will be happy to repeat that. Also, it feels like giving back. I, too, was a student once.
Hobbies and other information about me: We’ll work mostly remotely, but I will also appear in Vilnius once or twice this year.
