Areas of expertise and career experiences: Pranas has extensive experience in data and software engineering, with a strong background in mathematical modeling and algorithms. His career spans over a decade in engineering and development, with proficiency in languages such as Python, R, SQL, MATLAB, SAS, and more. Today he leads analytics engineering at www.balena.io, where he drives R&D on LLMs and AI-augmented analytics to accelerate data discovery, introduces modern tooling and CI/CD practices, and mentors other engineers. His career spans analytics engineering, data science, data engineering, and general software engineering, and also includes significant academic contributions, with multiple internationally indexed publications and scientific collaborations.
My motivation/personal goal when participating in a mentoring program: To share my knowledge and experience with aspiring students in the field of mathematics and engineering. I aim to help them develop the skills and confidence needed to succeed in their careers, including navigating how AI is reshaping data and software engineering. By mentoring, I hope to inspire the next generation of engineers and mathematicians to innovate and excel in their chosen fields.
