SKILLed FinTech

This educational programme is for talented KTU Bachelor students, who gain career competencies in the field of Financial Technology (FinTech), obtain wide-ranging life skills and financial benefits.

Why it is worth becoming a SKILLed FinTech student?

COMPETENCES IN THE FIELD OF FINTECH	You will acquire the academic and professional knowledge needed in the rapidly growing Financial Technology labour market through additional/enhanced study modules and presentations by company representatives.
CHALLENGES	The programme focuses on the principle of Challenge Based Learning (CBL), which KTU promotes together with the European Consortium of Innovative Universities (ECIU). Therefore, you will participate in hackathons, business-based and SKILLed FinTech-based challenges.
CAREER OPPORTUNITIES	You will attend a job shadowing practice, job interview simulation activities, career portfolio set-up training, advice and support from top-level Financial Technology sector career mentors. Upon completion of the programme, you will receive a SKILLed FinTech diploma alongside a personal recommendation and a competence portfolio!
WIDE-RANGING	Besides professional growth, you will obtain the development of your personal competencies by reaching goals and attending training in soft skills and personal finances.

SKILLed FinTech programme

Studies will take place according to an individualised plan, which will be upgraded with enhanced study modules that provide knowledge in the field of Financial Technologies. SKILLed FinTech students typically have 36 credits per semester.

Studies will also be complemented by various educational and non-formal activities.

1st year

You will get acquainted with the FinTech field and develop your personality!

You will work and consult with the best business representatives in the field of Financial Technology, which will introduce you to this sector. Moreover, you will get acquainted with the job position you are interested in through individual meetings.
You will set goals and create a personal competence plan according to your interests. If you need help or encouragement in achieving your goals, you will always have the opportunity to have a one-on-one consultation with the programme coordinator or career mentor.
You will get to know yourself through the Assessment Centre’s activities, according to which you will continue to develop yourself in a targeted manner, thus becoming even more superior in the labour market.

You will have some of the following modules included:

Enhanced Mathematics 1, 2;
Engineering Economics;
Fundamentals of Accounting and Financial Management of the Enterprise;
Fundamentals of Object Oriented Programming.

2nd year

You will become an expert in your professional path!

You will set a plan for the development of your professional competencies.
You will participate in the business challenges. Here you will develop innovative products in intense co-operation with business representatives and experts of various disciplines, and to make everything run smoothly, you will have additional soft skills training.
You will have consultations and receive assistance from top-level career mentors in the financial technology sector that will provide you with the answers to your questions and prepare you better for career challenges.
You will participate in career portfolio preparation and practical simulation training so that you would be ready for job interviews and feel confident during them.

You will have some of the following modules included:

Fundamentals of data structures;
Probability theory;
Financial markets and institutions;
Financial technology;
Mathematical Statistics;
Databases.

3rd year

You will apply the acquired skills and follow the path of independent development!

You will dare yourself by choosing an ECIU challenge or module and preparing educational activities for your SKILLed FinTech community.
You will develop yourself professionally through a subject-based competence plan and seminars.
You will take part in a Volunteering campaign, thus helping others using your talent and skills.

You will have some of the following modules included:

Data analysis;
Information Technology Safety;
Financial Services;
Investment Mathematics;
Graph Theory;
Cryptology.

4th year

You will ensure a smooth career journey!

You will give your presentation at the SKILLed FinTech Talks event and have an informal meeting with a professional in the field of FinTech.
You will have the opportunity to complete an internship at the most competitive Lithuanian and international businesses.
You will get an individual file of competencies, a personal recommendation and a completion diploma of SKILLed FinTech.

You will have some of the following modules included:

Financial Technology Solutions;
Machine learning methods;
Financial Risk Management;
Investment Mathematics;
Business financing models;
Mathematics of Insurance.

How can you become a SKILLed FinTech student?

PARTAKE IN THE APPLICATION PROCESS!

If you are a 1^st-year Bachelor’s student of Applied Mathematics, Program Systems, Information Systems, Informatics, Economics, or Finance study programmes at Kaunas University of Technology, your National-level math exam results are higher or equal to 75 points, your University admission competitive score is 7 or higher, and are ready to become an expert in the field of Financial Technologies – apply to the SKILLed FinTech programme!

Stage 1

Fill in the participant’s form in the section “Competitions” of the Academic Information System (AIS) from the 21^stof August to the 10^th of September:

CV (you can include your extracurricular activities – volunteering, membership of an organisation, participation in projects – as your work experience. We recommend using CV template);
Cover letter (describe your motivation to become a student of the “SKILLed FinTech” programme);
Recommendation (-s) (add recommendations of your teacher or the supervisor of your additional activities, etc.);
Other scientific activities (upload the documents supporting your scientific activities, participation in Olympiads, competitions, etc. issued after the 1^st of January, 2019);
Other activities (upload the documents supporting your social activities issued after 1^st of January, 2019: volunteering, participation in activities of an organisation, organised events, etc.).

*Tick type A1 by “Other scientific activities”.

Stage 2

If successful, you will receive a letter confirming that you have passed to the 2^nd stage of the competition on the 11^th of September and thereafter be invited to a motivational interview. The second stage of the application process (the interview) will provide you with an immense opportunity to reveal your potential, willingness and motivation to become a student of the SKILLed FinTech programme.

Motivational interviews for the general submission will take place on the 12^th-15^th of September. We urge you to check your University’s e-mail regularly.

Stage 3

If you are accepted, you will receive a letter of confirmation for the SKILLed FinTech programme on the 18th of September. Get ready for a fascinating journey with SKILLed FinTech!
